I wrote a post several years ago about the Cancun Airport. Since that time many changes have taken place at the Cancun Airport and I thought it would be wise to write and update. Things change over the years and it is always nice to get a fresh update.
If you would like a place to stay for a few nights while you explore around the southwest section of Ireland, Killarney is perfectly situated for this purpose.
No trip to Ireland would be complete without a visit to Blarney Castle. Whether you kiss the stone or not is ultimately up to you, but be warned, it is not an easy feat. More on that later. Blarney Castle has a long history and the story of the Blarney Stone and the tradition of kissing it is quite entertaining.
If you haven’t had time to visit Dublin yet, you really should put in on your shortlist of things to do. Besides being the largest city in the Republic of Ireland, it is a beautiful city with a pretty interesting history.
Besides being a part of the United Kingdom, Belfast is also a part of Ireland and its incredible history. To miss out on Belfast is a bit of a shame but with all of the amazing things to see and do in the Republic of Ireland, it is understandable to not have the time to spare for Belfast.
Amalfi Coast. If you have never heard of the Amalfi Coast, it is a section of the Italian coastline below Naples that extends from Sorrento down past the town of Amalfi to Vietri sul Mare where it ends. This section of Italy is much like Cinque Terre. If you haven’t heard of Cinque Terre, read our blog out it here.
I think all of us grew up with the story of Pompeii and how it was buried by the eruption of Mt Vesuvius. So when the opportunity came to go and see this place it was a no brainer that I was going to go. We were on a Greek Isle cruise but one of the last ports of call was Naples, Italy, and Pompeii is just a short hop, skip, and a jump away. We decided to get a private tour since we were traveling with friends and a private tour was quite affordable. I would not go to Pompeii without a knowledgeable guide. I think having a great guide important when visiting a place like Pompeii.
Sicily is both beautiful and fascinating. We have the opportunity to visit Sicily during our Greek Island Cruise that departed out of Civitavecchia, Italy. I had very low expectations of Sicily before we left on our cruise so it was an amazing eye-opener. We decided rather than taking a tour at this port, we would explore on our own. This turned out to be a fantastic decision.
If you want to feel very important, go on a expedition cruise to Yarmouth. It seems the entire town knew we were coming and the Mayor of Yarmouth, a Councilman, and a Mayor from a near by town were at the docks waiting to greet us. The town opened some of its shops early for us and everywhere we went we were greeted with warm smiles and welcomes. If you do get a chance to go to Yarmouth be sure to stop in at the county museum. They have a very nice museum that tell the story of the area with some wild and wacky exhibits. You have to make sure you go downstairs to see the whole thing. It was Lobster Season while we were there and they had their fishing fleet out in force. This was such a beautiful, friendly stop along our way on our expedition cruise with Hurtigruten.
While is Regensburg we had the opportunity to visit the Weltenburg Abbey. To get there we took a ferry up the Danube River to the Weltenburg Abbey. It is located right on the river and is known for its beer. We are in Germany after all. Here are a few of our favorite photos from Weltenburg Abbey.
