Luxury travel is not as out of reach as you might think.  Sometimes you need to focus on the entire experience rather than just the upfront expenses.  What do I mean by that?  Well, simple, with more and more travel experiences many items are a la carte and the charges really add up quickly.  You need to be savvy and look at the entire picture.  Many times a luxury experience will include so many extra perks that you can actually have a better experience for about the same cost.

If you cruise on a regular basis and find yourself always booking a Jr Suite or better, you could be doing yourself a huge disservice.  Many of the suites on the mass market or premium lines cost about the same as an entry level stateroom (most are suites anyway) on a luxury line.  Sure, you might not have the best location on the ship; however, the suites sizes are usually larger and the service is dramatically better.  Once you exit your stateroom, no one cares where it is located.  The perks are the same for just about everyone.  You will also find that these cruises are more social.  The ships are smaller and more intimate and passengers are interested in interacting with each other.

 

The same could be said for land tours as well.  Most often escorted luxury tours include breakfast, all the logistics, tours, and some dinners.  If you enjoy staying in 4 and 5-star hotels located near the action then you just might enjoy a luxury escorted tour.  Sure you are with a group, but you are with a group of people interested in the same things you are and you get personal attention.  The tours usually have “skip the line” tickets to the most popular venues that allow you to see what you want without spending time just waiting to get in.  Best of all, just about all of them allow for free time to explore on your own.  This is just about as close to having your cake and eating it too as you can get.  If that is not enough for you, consider the fact that many travelers in the luxury category make lifelong friends with those they are traveling with.

 

Value Vs Price

 

Luxury cruises and tours are often priced as all-inclusive.  Excursions and drink packages are usually included in the price and save you money in the long run.  Have you ever stopped to add up the cost of all the “extras” on your last vacation?  You might find they came to more than you expected.  Next time, you should consider what all is not included and what could be included if you moved to a more luxury brand.  You won’t know unless you add it up and compare the difference.  Quite often, the better value will be a luxury brand.

 

Afraid of being out of place?  Don’t.  Most luxury brands of travel have a more relaxed feel to them.  Their clients are there to relax and the last thing they want is to be bound by stringent dress codes.  Most luxury brands recommend a chic resort dress code; probably what you were going to wear anyway.
