The Best of Szentendre - Agency Reviews and Recommendations

We had the opportunity to take a side trip to Szentendre a city just 25 km from Budapest.  We visited by way of bicycle.  If you make it to Budapest, you really should take the opportunity to take the bike ride to Szentendre.  The way back is by boat so you don't have to be in fabulous condition to make it.  This bike tour included parts of Budapest that we probably would not have seen.  Here are some of our favorite photos from Szentendre and the bicycle tour.

 

A City for Artists

These funky painted stairs actually lead up to the church that is built on the hill over looking old town Szentendre.  It was an unexpected touch of modern life in an otherwise very old town.

 

 

Can you guess what this might be?  It is located on the side of the church at the top of the hill over looking Szentendre.  No guesses?  Believe it or not, it's a sun dial!!!!  Unfortunately someone planted a tree next to it so it no longer tells time... But it is wonderful little touches like this that help to make old town Szentendre a remarkable place to visit.

 

 

Quaint and Beautiful

This beautiful little old town has lots of sidewalk cafes and quirky shops.  Szentendre is known for its artist culture.
