The Best of Budapest Agency Reviews and Recommendations

Budapest is an amazing city.  Once two cities, Buda and Pest, the two united when a bridge was finally built that could span the Danube River and with stand the ebb and flow of the river.  This beautiful city has two distinct personalities representing the two cities.  The Buda side has more parks, greenery and rolling hills.  The Pest side has more shopping and more economical housing.  No matter which side of the river you are on, you will be enthralled with the beauty, architecture, and history of Budapest!  Plan to stay for several days.

The Parliament Building in Budapest

Easily one of the most recognizable buildings in Budapest this stunning building is one of the first sites of the city as you come around a bend in the Danube River into Budapest.  If you take the time to count the spires on the building (both large and small) you will find that there are 365 spires.  The designer of the building wanted those who work here to remember that the people need to be served 365 days a year.  It is even more stunning at night when it is lit.

The Royal Palace in Budapest

The Royal Palace in Budapest.  Do you know the difference between a palace and a castle?  A palace is a home for the royal family to dwell and a castle is a place for defense and safety.  Both places are meant to be lived in but one has a more functional purpose.  This beautiful palace is located along the Danube River.

This monastery is a bit deceiving.  The facade is the only portion of the building that has not been carved out of the rock.  The majority of the monastery is located in the rock wall itself with only the small facade to indicate where it is.

Located higher on a hill overlooking the Danube River, is Fisherman's Bastion.  This lovely area is located near the cathedral where all the more wealthy residence once resided.  Rather than have the wealthy trek down the hill to the waters edge, the fishermen brought their catch of the day to them at Fisherman's Bastion.  I fell in love with architecture of this place.  We were also treated to this wonderful man dressed in period clothing with his eagle.

Fisherman's Bastion

A beautiful view of Fisherman's Bastion.  Beautiful views of Budapest and the Danube River can be found all along this area.  I love the architecture.  Any trip to Budapest must include a visit to Fisherman's Bastion and the cathedral.  You can enter the cathedral but once you have been inside of one, you have seen pretty much all of them.  They do have their own personalities, but I enjoyed walking around the grounds and Fisherman's Bastion more than entering the cathedral.
