Santa Marta, Columbia was a pleasant surprise.  This beautiful city has a little bit of eveything and since it is located on the coast you could say that it has everything.  Sand, Sun, Water, Mountains, Jungle, and City life can all be found here.  We actually hired a taxi for the day to take us around to see the many sights.  He took us to a few places that we didn't even know about.  Read our blog if you want to know more!  Here are a few of our favorite photos from Columbia.

 

This tree was simply amazing.  We were hiking to the falls when the path travels right under this amazing tree.  I have never seen anything quite like it.  The picture doesn't quite do it justice.

 

 

Our driver took us to this beach resort-ish.  It was more like a large bed and breakfast but it was perfectly situated over looking the beach on one side and a lake on the other.  Someday, I would like to return to this place and stay for a few days. 

 

 

We had the opportunity to stop at this roadside fruit stand.  Our driver helped us learn about the different fruits that we were not familiar with.  We bought a few things and sampled them.  Really good fruit!  And, yes, it was safe to eat.

 

 

These waterfalls are hard to do justice to.  There may not be a lot of water coming down at this particular time of year; however, they are quite high.  I hope you can see the people climbing them.  It helps to give a little more perspective.

 

 

I really want to come back here some day.  The beach is on one side and the lake is on the other.
