RegensburgGermany is a fascinating place.  The Regensburg cathedral here is beautiful but currently going through some restoration work.  The old town boasts the oldest sausage kitchen that has some really great tasting sausages.  A tour here really must include a stop at the sausage kitchen.  Here are a few of our favorite photos from our visit to Regensburg!

This archway leads into a beautiful courtyard in old town Regensburg.  I love all of the little hidden places you can find in these old towns.  Walking tours are a great way to see all the hidden spots!

Not all arches lead to hidden spaces.  This arch is actually a remnant of a Roman fortress.  Not much of the wall and fort remain.  Villagers tend to make use of the resources around them.  Many of the stones used to build the Roman structures were later recycled and used elsewhere in the cities.

The old town streets are narrow and windy.  There is much to see and explore in this old town.  I find it enjoyable to think about all the  interesting things that must have happened on these streets!

The wealthy in Regensburg didn't have enough to do with their money so they built towers to show just how wealthy they were.  You must be very wealthy if you have the tallest tower in town.  They were constantly trying to out do each other.  I bet the architects had a great time in this city!

Some of the details from the Regensburg Cathedral!  The Cathedral also has gargoyles and other fun details.  There is one that actually looks like a pig.  The sausage kitchen must have been very popular back when this Cathedral was being built.
