If Heaven Were an All-Inclusive in Cancun

If heaven were an all-inclusive resort in Cancun, Mexico, my version of heaven would be Secrets Akumal.  I admit freely that I fell in love with resort while touring it during a recent trip to Cancun.  This resort is a little further from Cancun than I would like; however, it is well worth the extra effort to get there.

 

Like other Secrets resorts that I have been to, Secrets Akumal is centered around the beach and ocean views.  Unlike other resorts, this one has more hidden little nooks in which to find some peace and quiet while still enjoying all the amenities the resort has to offer.  Winding through the resort are numerous paths that lead to little quiet sitting areas or hammocks or hot tubs.  These little paths and the way the landscaping is laid out gives the feel that you are one of only a handful of guests staying at the resort.  I love this.

 

The beach is the typical beautiful white sands and blue water the Caribbean is known for.  One of the differences here is how they utilize the ocean.  They have divided the ocean that fronts the resort into different sectors for different activities.  No need to worry about snorkeling while a paddle boarder runs over the top of you.  Most resorts offer water activities but few have gone to the lengths Akumal has to make it not only safe but more enjoyable.

 

From the moment you step out of your vehicle upon arrival at Secrets Akumal, you will notice the difference.  The main lobby offers an overlook type view of the entire resort.  Highlighted by infinity pools and fountains the view from the lobby sets the tone for the entire resort.  The calm, relaxing, and casual refinement of the lobby is carried out through the entire resort.  I look forward to going back and spending a lot of time at Secrets Akumal!
