Dunedin, located on the South Island of New Zealand is a fascinating city and has so much to offer!  Dunedin is a beautiful city has a very strong Scottish influence and heritage.  There are some fun and fascinating things to see in the city itself.  Dunedin boasts the steepest street in the world.  Yes, people do live on this street and it is crazy steep.  The Train Station is also a beautiful architectural building that is a highlight.

Also in the Dunedin area is Larnach Castle.  Larnach Castle is a beautiful building that is reminiscent of a Scottish Castle but is not as large as most of the castles I have seen.  With that in mind, it is still a beautiful place and the grounds alone are worth a visit.  Larnach Castle sits on top of a hill with a stunning view of the area.  This is a wonderful vantage point to see the area and all the beauty it has to offer.  I had so much fun wandering around and exploring the grounds that I actually never made it into the castle.

Otago Peninsula has a lot to offer as well.  Besides being a beautiful drive, it is home to a variety of bird species.  One interesting note about New Zealand in general, is they have a lot of native birds.  One such bird is the rare Yellow-Eyed Penguin.  We had the amazing opportunity to be able to visit a farm that has created a sanctuary for these marvelous penguins.  This farm has personally financed re-planting trees to provide shelter for the penguins as well as building shelters for the penguins to nest.  They provide tours where you can see the penguins but the penguins can not see you.  This was a thrilling experience and well worth the time.
