Looking for a great way to save a little bit more on your next vacation?  Here are 10 things you should always pack to save you money on your next trip.

Empty Travel Size Bottles:  Why buy travel size toiletries when you have the much better-priced sizes already at home?  The travel sizes are usually overpriced based on the convenience of their size.  I like buying the empty travel size bottles and filling them with my favorite toiletries.  This makes everything TSA compliant and saves money.  Can't-lose with that combination.

Stick Sunscreen:  If you wait to purchase your sunscreen at your destination, you will, more than likely, pay a premium.  If you plan to be gone for any length of time, a small container of sunscreen won’t last.  Here is a great compromise.  Some brands have started making their sunscreen in sticks.  You can carry as much as you need without having to worry about being TSA compliant because it is a solid, not a liquid.  Check out Neutrogena’s stick sunscreen or check out other options online.

Luggage scale:  Nothing is worse than having a wonderful time on your vacation and picking up a few items only to find out that you are now over the weight limit and are going to pay dearly.  I have often carried a duffle style bag to pack extras in, but then you pay for the extra checked bag or struggle with space for a carry-on.  Keeping track of your bag weight is vital in keeping travel expenses down.

Duct Tape:  It sounds a little crazy, I know, but duct tape has so many uses!  Besides being a great, cheap way to fix a broken suitcase, duct tape works great as a lint remover and to cover blisters on your feet.  You can also use it as an impromptu safe by taping valuables to the underside of the bed.  Who would look there?  You don’t have to carry the entire roll.  Take a pen and roll a length of duct tape on it.  Save space and have an easy fix for emergencies.

Snacks:  This is something I do a lot.  I carry snacks with me when I travel.  I have also been known to carry easy breakfast items when we travel as well (think breakfast bars and instant oatmeal).  Nothing worse than getting “hangry” on vacation.  But that is not the only reason.  We quite often like to just eat 2 meals when we travel.  A nice hearty breakfast and a leisurely dinner.  All the time in between can be filled with exploring and having fun.  No time for lunch for us!  Snacks like nuts and granola bars can tide us over until the next meal.  It also helps to fill in a meal when you want to try something exotic but not enough of it to fill you up.  Sometimes street food is fantastic and sometimes not.
