The Blue Mountains of Australia - Review and Recommendation
Published Wednesday, July 3rd 2019 - Updated Wednesday, July 3rd 2019During a recent trip to Australia, I had the distinct pleasure of taking a day trip into the Blue Mountains and I am so glad that I did. I went not really knowing what to expect. Spending the day in the Blue Mountains was well worth the time and here is why.
The Three Sisters: One of the more beautiful rock formations found in the Blue Mountains is a series of three pinnacles named the Three Sisters. I was there on a misty morning and the Sisters were being a bit shy. They were trying to cloak themselves in a veil of mist. It actually just made them all the more appealing. These rocky outcroppings do seem to take on the appearance of three women made of stone. If that doesn’t appeal to you, the view, in general, is spectacular. Well worth the stop.
The Blue Mountain Botanical Gardens: Weather was not my friend on my excursion into the Blue Mountains but for me, that didn’t dampen the enjoyment of the Botanical Gardens. I always travel with an umbrella anyway. The gardens are situated on the side of a mountain and have numerous walkways and winding paths that lead to a stunning variety of plants and flowers. I could have spent a lot more time here. Be sure to check out the rare and extremely old tree species they have here. Very interesting.
Wentworth Falls and Govett’s Leap: If you want to see some rather dramatic waterfalls, you should check out these two. They do not have a mass volume of water but the plunges they make are quite breathtaking. I don’t know how high they are, but the pictures don’t do them justice. Just keep in mind that those are full grown and very tall trees around the falls. They are beautiful.
